Course Description

CPR AED TRAINING

The HSI CPR and AED training program is intended for individuals who are not health care providers or professional rescuers but desire or are required to be certified CPR and the use of an AED.

In meeting the needs of students the HSI CPR AED training program has the following certification options:

Adult only—adult and child—adult, child and infant

In this class the student will learn the proper techniques for chest compressions, rescue breaths, use of the automated external defibrillator, primary assessment of the unresponsive person, caring for a person in cardiac arrest and choking.

The goal of this training program is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to a medical emergency.

This class is a mixed mode approach using both online and in person learning. Core knowledge content is provided in video segments and interactive student exercises online. This is followed by in person skills practice.  Online content must be completed prior to in person, hands on class.

BASIC FIRST AID

The HSI Basic First Aid training program is intended for individuals who are not health care providers or professional rescuers but desire or are required to be certified first aid.

In this class the student will learn how to correctly demonstrate the removal of contaminated gloves, correctly perform the steps of a primary assessment for a responsive person and correctly demonstrate how to control severe external bleeding using direct pressure and pressure bandage.

The goal of this training program is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to a medical emergency.

This class is a mixed mode approach using both online and in person learning. Core knowledge content is provided in video segments and interactive student exercises online. This is followed by in person skills practice.  Online content must be completed prior to in person, hands on class.

ADVANCED BLEEDING CONTROL

The HSI Advanced Bleeding Control training program is intended for individuals who desire or are required to be trained in the use of commercial and improvised control devices for the immediate management of severe external bleeding.

In this class the student will learn are how to apply direct pressure, pressure bandages, tourniquets, wound packing, and caring for severe external bleeding.

The goal of this training program is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to severe bleeding emergency.

This class is a mixed mode approach using both online and in person learning. Core knowledge content is provided in video segments and interactive student exercises online. This is followed by in person skills practice.  Online content must be completed prior to in person, hands on class.

ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING

Preparing for active violence means considering the circumstances and possible actions you may need to take, either alone or as a part of a group.  You will have effective strategies to improve your chances of survival, but if active violence occurs you will need to adapt what you know to your situation.

In this class the students will learn how to equip your space, handling active violence events, defend and attack, what to do after a active violent event, how to apply direct pressure and wound packing, how to apply a tourniquet, equipping your space, flight-fight-freeze, escape and evade, defend and attack.

The goal of this training program is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to an active shooter event.
